Announcement about the launch of DEFEP project

Karazin Kharkiv National University became one of the 11 participating universities of the Erasmus+ KA2 DEFEP project “Distance Education for Future: best EU practices in response to the requests of modern higher education seekers and labor market”. The project began its work in January 2023 and is being implemented by the Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University (Ukraine), along with a consortium of 10 partner universities:

  • V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (Ukraine)
  • Kyiv National Economic University Named After Vadym Hetman (Ukraine)
  • Chernihiv Polytechnic National University (Ukraine)
  • Uman National University Of Horticulture (Ukraine)
  • Lviv National Environmental University (Ukraine)
  • Moldova State University (Moldova)
  • Moldova Technical University (Moldova)
  • Saarland University (Germany)
  • Rey Juan Carlos University (Spain)
  • University of Palermo (Italy)

The DEFEP project aims to implement a sustainable and effective system of distance education as a distinct and independent form of education in the Eastern Partnership countries. An effective system of distance education in higher education institutions will help address many crucial issues arising in the field of education, given the behavioral, personal, ideological changes across generations, and technological transformations in the labor market. Simultaneously, the distance education system in higher education institutions creates all the necessary conditions for implementing the principle of barrier-free education and establishing a safe educational environment in modern realities.

As part of the project, the existing system of distance education in Ukrainian and Moldovan higher education institutions will be improved and comprehensively reorganized, taking into account the experiences of European partner universities. The project focuses on creating institutional units within higher education institutions, developing distance learning methods, educational and methodological materials, and training teaching staff. In combination, these efforts will contribute to the systematic development of distance education as a distinct, independent field of education that enhances students’ professional competencies and soft skills in alignment with the needs of the labor market.
